Motion on Notice: Provide a Return and Earn Container Deposit Scheme

Below is the motion that I am moving at the Council meeting on Monday 22nd July:

Since the NSW Government Return and Earn Container Deposit Scheme commenced in December 2017, Lane Cove Council has requested Tomra the operator of the scheme to assess a number of sites within the Lane Cove LGA to host a reverse vending machine. LABOR WANTS PARRAMATTA RIVER TO BE SWIMMABLE AGAIN

Deputy Opposition Leader Penny Sharpe today announced that a Daley Labor Government will invest $1.8 million in priority actions towards making Parramatta River swimmable again by 2025.

Ms Sharpe was joined at a proposed future swim site at Putney Park by Labor candidates Jerome Laxale for Ryde, Andrew Zbik for Lane Cove, and Tom Hore for Drummoyne, to promise the funding.

A Daley Labor Government, if elected this month, will embark on an unprecedented $7.4 billion school building program.

$2.7 BILLION BOOST FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

A Daley Labor Government will provide NSW public schools with an extra $2.7 billion worth of Gonski needs-based funding over the life of current State and Federal funding agreements

This commitment will mean more than $1,500 extra, every year, for every student in NSW public high schools, and more than $1,200 for every public primary school student.

Under Labor, NSW will become the first state in Australia to deliver 100 per cent of the standard level of funding for every student.

LABOR WILL HIRE AN ADDITIONAL 5,000 TEACHERS

NSW Labor Leader, Michael Daley, has announced today that a Daley Labor Government, if elected this month, will hire an additional 5,000 teachers across NSW.

By 2036, it is estimated there will be one million students enrolled in NSW public schools. Only Labor will hire the additional teachers needed to keep up with demand and provide the best opportunities for our children.
