LANE COVE COUNCIL BECOMES NEWEST REFUGEE WELCOME ZONE

Councillor Andrew Zbik announces that on Monday night, 11 December, 2017, Lane Cove Council passed his motion to become Sydney’s newest Refugee Welcome Zone.

The motion, put forward by Councillor Andrew Zbik, was passed 5:2 at the most recent Council meeting.

Andrew went to the local council elections promising to introduce the motion if elected and this result is fulfilment of that election commitment.

Creating A Safe Segregated Cycleway for Lane Cove Cyclists to Sydney CBD

At tonight's Ordinary Council Meeting (Monday 20th November) I successfully moved a motion calling on Lane Cove Council to work with neighbouring Councils to campaign the State Government to complete the missing link in the segregated cycleway from Naremburn to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

NSW Shadow Minister for Transport Jodi McKay visited the Lane Cove bus interchange with Lane Cove Labor this morning to observe the bus queues local residents are forced to endure each and every day.  

This is the second time this year the Shadow Minister has visited Lane Cove to put pressure on the Liberal member for Lane Cove to address overcrowding.

Senator Sam Dastyari Visits Lane Cove: Liberals Agree To Be More Racist

NSW Senator Sam Dastyari visited Lane Cove last Tuesday evening to address a public forum about proposed changes to racial discrimination laws in Australia.

The forum discussed the recently released report by the Commonwealth Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights reviewing the Racial Discrimination Act and particularly sections 18C and 18D of that Act.
